My Process
Creating art is meditative for me, so it allows me to express myself intuitively. I would like my audience to feel the excitement of my inner world. Using curved lines, texture, and bold color this is the only way I can express myself as an artist. My abstract paintings have a variety of focal points, which allows for constant discovery of the details. I often use Taino symbols within my work, as a tribute to my ancestors. I am a messy painter and listen to loud House or Salsa music when working. I use acrylics, Posca /Sharpie markers, and oil pastels in my work. These materials allow me to repaint over my work, which is essential to my process. I use the paint directly from the tube with a brush or my fingers. I do not mix my own paint, the pure color allows me to capture a boldness that is not muted. The inspiration for my art comes from my culture, patterns in nature, the textures of things in our world, and the ocean’s never ending force and beauty.ragraph.
